EASTSIDE BAVARIAN: YOUR TRUSTED RADIATOR REPAIR SHOP

As an integral part of your cooling system, the radiator helps to cool down the liquid that cycles through your cooling system, bringing the overall temperature of your engine down to tolerable levels. When your radiator malfunctions, this can lead to overheating, which can lead to you being stranded in a cloud of steam on the side of the highway. You can avoid that, though, by staying alert for symptoms of a failing radiator such as puddles of coolant, the smell of coolant boiling over into your engine bay, or your engine running hotter than normal. If you see any of these symptoms, it is time to schedule an appointment at Eastside Bavarian.

If you are experiencing one or more of these signs, it is imperative that you bring your car in for a radiator repair as soon as possible. Please give us a call at 425-391-1990 or schedule an appointment online.

RADIATOR REPAIR

Your vehicle’s radiator is a type of heat exchanger that transfers heat from the hot coolant that flows through it to the air blown by the fan. The radiator is usually made from aluminum, which is flattened into sheets and then bent into a flat tube. If your radiator fails or wears out, the entire vehicle’s cooling system is compromised. If you feel that your car is overheating, you can come to Eastside Bavarian in Issaquah for a radiator repair today.

HOW DOES A RADIATOR WORK?

Hot coolant, or antifreeze, flows into the radiator and the radiator cools the liquid down. The vehicle’s fan also assists in cooling the hot coolant down, and the liquid flows back to the engine. This cycle repeats as you drive to keep your engine from overheating

As the radiator ages, mineral deposits from the coolant liquid builds up, in turn blocking the flow of fluid through the system.

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY CAR NEEDS A RADIATOR REPAIR?

Here are some signs that your vehicle may need a radiator repair:

The temperature gauge reads hot.

If the temperature gauge on your dashboard constantly runs hot, you are either running low on coolant fluid or there may be an issue with your radiator.

Radiator discoloration or rust.

If there is leak on your radiator, hot coolant fluid can burst out and land on engine parts. The liquid will bubble up and evaporate, leaving some discoloration.

Coolant leak.

If you see a bright green, blue, or pink, fluid leaking from your car, there is likely an issue with your radiator.

Overheating.

If steam billows out from under your hood, your vehicle is overheating which may indicate radiator, or other cooling system trouble.
